Shred them yourself instead of 3rd Party Shredding.
Ensure your data security yourself!
Many companies are too quick to choose an external service provider when faced with the question of either destroying data inside the company or externally.
What is often overlooked: the company is still liable – even if the service provider is clearly at fault.*
Moreover – the more stages and hands a storage device goes through, the more likely unauthorized access will occur.
The efforts and the costs for external destruction are often underestimated.

I do the shredding - In-house Data Destruction
For in-house data destruction, the data carrier gets destroyed by personal shredding. The document shredder can be used at the desk or as a central machine in the open-plan office.
The regular effort which has to be made is limited to oiling the cutting unit and emptying the waste bin.
The necessary investments are buying the document shredder and the related consumables.
With this version you achieve the highest level of data protection.
3rd Party Shredding - Mobile Shredding Service on-site or Stationary Shredding Service
The 3rd party shredding can be done by two different ways – on the one hand by mobile shredding service on-site or on the other hand by stationary shredding. The first two steps are identical: The data carriers get thrown in a central and locked data protection container. Afterwards, this container is emptied, e.g. 1x per week by the service provider. In the next step in mobile shredding service on-site all the containers in the company are stored in a central location. While in the stationary shredding service all the containers are transported to the service provider in a lorry. By using the mobile shredding service on-site, the data media carriers are now getting destroyed with other media in the mobile shredding system, while by stationary shredding the containers are in an intermediate storage at the service provider´s facility. In the last step the data carriers get destroyed with many other data carriers in a stationary shredding system, similar to the mobile shredding service on-site.
The regular effort for both types of 3rd party shredding include the inspection of the service provider for adherence contact* as well as the archiving of the minutes / certificates for the statutory period.
For both variants of 3rd party shredding, investments include the rent for containers, the costs for data destruction and a possible price increase.
With the mobile shredding service on-site you achieve a medium level of data protection, with stationary shredding service a low level of data protection.
